Chapter 6

The Skin Code Prophecy

This remarkable prophesied skin code is about to be fulfilled. Today’s computer technology and electronic banking system make this prophecy feasible. About two thousand years ago, Apostle John predicted the global implementation of the skin code. Twenty years ago this was not possible. Although the computer was invented in the 1950s, only in the last twenty years that technological advances in the internet, microchip, RFID chip, smart skin and palm vein sensor make the global skin code possible.

Apostle John prophesied:

Revelation 13:16-18 21st Century King James Version (KJ21)

And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand or in their foreheads, that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark or the name of the beast or the number of his name. Here is wisdom: Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred threescore and six.

Characteristics of the skin code (mark of the beast)
1. In the right hand or in the forehead
2. A means to control buying and selling
3. It bears the name or the number of the beast
4. The number is some combinations of six hundred and sixty six

Plus one more important characteristic: allegiance and worship.

In Revelation 13:15, it was stated that the worship of the beast is a requirement for obtaining the skin code. The skin code will be implemented to enforce allegiance and worship.

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause to be killed as many as would not worship the image of the beast.

Receiving the skin code would mean allegiance to the beast and worship of the beast.

The skin code will operate as an encrypted universal password for all financial transactions. This means you cannot buy or sell without the skin code. It will be embedded in your skin either on the right hand or on the forehead. This skin code (password) will consist of some alphabets and some numbers that relate to the name and number of the ‘Beast’ (the nickname of a world leader whose name is computed to be the number six hundred and sixty six).

The introduction of the skin code is a clear sign of the proximity of the return of Jesus Christ and the end of the world as we know it. I shall expand on this toward the end of this chapter.

The Bible did not specify the exact electronic device for the skin code. It was about A.D.95 that Apostle John wrote the book of Revelation and we would not expect him to give a detailed description of the microchip, RFID chip, scanner and password. Even if John were to give us a detailed description of the microchip and RFID chip we would have trouble understanding because these devices were non-existent sixty years ago. The microchip was invented in 1958 by Jack Kilby and Mario Cardullo patented an active RFID tag in 1973. We should take note that Apostle John lived about 2000 years ago! What he wrote is adequate for us to conclude that it is a skin code.

While imprisoned on the island of Patmos, near Greece, Apostle John saw the following in a vision of the future and prophesied the global implementation of the skin code.

The skin code is called the ‘mark of the beast’ and it will consist of his name or the number of his name. You cannot buy or sell unless you have the ‘mark’.

RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) chips, microchips, smart skins (skin-mounted electronics), palm vein sensor can be precursors to the ‘mark of the beast’. None of them by itself is the ‘mark of the beast’ because one important component (element) is missing. The ‘mark of the beast’ includes the element of allegiance and worship. You will not be given the ‘mark’ unless you pledge allegiance to the ‘beast’ (global leader) and worship him as God.

Let me emphasize that none of the devices mentioned constitutes the ‘mark of the beast’ or the skin code. The device must meet the requirement of allegiance and worship.

Most of these devices are morally neutral just like money is morally neutral; it is the lust for money that is morally wrong. Some devices are useful for tagging animals and products. It is only morally wrong when a world leader seizes a device and uses it for evil. The device becomes the ‘mark’ when it is mandatory and worship is a prerequisite. The ‘mark of the beast’ has two elements; a means to control financial transaction and an element of worship. You are to watch out for its introduction and its implementation because it has eternal consequences and you need to prepare for it.

Possible Precursors to the ‘Mark’

The following are some devices that could develop into the ‘mark of the beast’. More sophisticated technologies - perhaps some combination of biotechnology and nanotechnology - may well supplant RFID chip.

RFID tag

RFID tags are tiny radio communications devices: they include a small computer chip (called microchip) and an antenna, and they communicate with a nearby reader at certain radio frequencies. An active tag has its own power supply. A passive tag gets its power instead from the reader’s radio signal. Active tag can be read from a much larger distance and can easily do sophisticated computations including encryption.

Implantable RFID tag

Livestock are “chipped” with implanted RFID tags so they can be tracked more easily within the food supply; lost pets so tagged can be identified and reunited with owners. Public transportation and toll collection use similar technology, as do new contactless payment systems. Some examples are ‘Touch-and-Go’, ‘VISA Pay Wave’ and ‘I-Charge’.

Your Own Personal Microchip Implant

A chip similar to those used in smart cards can be placed under your skin. Once the chip is implanted it could be read by an inexpensive scanner, much like the one that reads bar codes in your local grocery store. You would then become your own smart card.

The technology for just such an implant not only exists, but is being tested in pilot programs around the world. For example, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says that implantation of the new Microdot Identification Project is already underway in Washington, D.C., and several other test cities. The tiny computer chips being used are no larger than the head of a pin, cost less than 25 cents each and are injected approximately 1/4 inch under the skin, usually in the space between the thumb and the index finger. They are activated by a small hand-held scanner and provide flawless identification of the person in whom it is implanted.

The Technology for the Mark of the Beast is Here

Biblical Basis

The ‘mark of the beast’ is mentioned 8 times in the Bible, all in the book of Revelation.

1. Revelation 13:16-18 21st Century King James Version (KJ21)

And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand or in their foreheads, that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark or the name of the beast or the number of his name. Here is wisdom: Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred threescore and six.

2. Revelation 14:9-12 (KJ21)

And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out unmixed into the cup of His indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.”

Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

3. Revelation 15:1-3 (KJ21)

And I saw another sign in Heaven, great and marvelous: seven angels holding the seven last plagues, for in them is filled up the wrath of God. And I saw, as it were, a sea of glass mingled with fire, and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass and having the harps of God. And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, “Great and marvelous are Thy works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Thy ways, Thou King of saints!

4. Revelation 16:1-2 English Standard Version (ESV)

Then I heard a loud voice from the temple telling the seven angels, “Go and pour out on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath of God.” So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and harmful and painful sores came upon the people who bore the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.

5. Revelation 19:20 (ESV)

And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.

6. Revelation 20:4-5 (ESV)

Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection.

In these verses, the MARK is referred by:

Rev 13:16 "a mark"

Rev 13:17 " the mark"

Rev 14:9 "his mark"

Rev 14:11 "mark of his name"

Rev 15:2 "his mark"

Rev 16:2 "the mark of the beast"

Rev 19:20 "the mark of the beast"

Rev 20:4 "his mark"

Notice that the ‘mark’ is closely associated to the beast.

LITERAL AND NOT SYMBOLIC
1. “To receive a mark in their right hand or in their foreheads” implies something literal and physical is applied to the right hand or forehead since the right hand and forehead are literal and physical.
2. The ‘mark’ has to be literal to be detectible to determine whether a person can buy or sell something. Obviously buying or selling is literal.
3. In Revelation 16:1-2, one consequence of bearing the ‘mark’ and worshipping the beast will be harmful and painful sores. Harmful and painful sores are obviously literal, implying that the ‘mark’ is literal too.
4. The Greek word for ‘mark’ is "charagma" which means "a stamp, impress". Does that sound "symbolic"?
5. There is an example in the Old Testament when the Lord set a ‘mark’ on Cain “lest any finding him should kill him” (Genesis 4:15). Obviously the mark was not symbolic. It was literal and visible so that no one dared to kill Cain.

POWER BEHIND THE ‘BEAST’

The coming world leader will demand the world's worship not merely because he has a severe ego problem but because he will be possessed by Satan himself.

Revelation 13:2 New King James Version (NKJV)

Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon(Satan) gave him his power, his throne, and great authority.

Satan has always wanted to be God. This is why he fell in the first place. The prophet Isaiah wrote, "How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! … For you said to yourself, 'I will ascend to heaven and rule the angels. I will take the highest throne. … I will climb to the highest heavens and be like the Most High.' But instead, you will be brought down to the pit of hell, down to its lowest depths" (Isaiah 14:12-15, TLB).

This is what Satan is really after when he causes his puppet, the Beast (Antichrist), to set up the coming one-world financial system to force all people of the world to worship him through the ‘mark’ or skin code.

WATCH OUT FOR THE ‘MARK’

Accepting the "mark of the Beast" is not merely an economic decision but also spiritual. Though disguised as a technological breakthrough for the betterment of society, receiving it will primarily be a spiritual decision to accept and worship the ‘beast’ (Antichrist).

This is why the Bible warns, "If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out unmixed into the cup of His indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name" (Revelation 14:9-11).

So when you see a world leader demands your allegiance and your worship, don't fall for it. Regardless of the economic "incentives" offered or the retribution that threatens those who refuse his ‘mark’, give your love and worship to the true God, your Creator, who loves and cares for you, and will see you through the days ahead. Do all you can to prepare for it and trust God for the Rapture at the return of Jesus Christ.

Jesus will rescue us from the beast

"Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His chosen from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other" (Matthew 24:29-31).

Here Jesus is telling us that the world's darkest period of tribulation and horror will abruptly end with the dawning of the brightest day. Jesus Christ Himself returns to gather His people to be with Him!

THE REWARD OF THOSE WHO REFUSE THE MARK

Revelation 20:4 (ESV)

Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

Revelation 15:2 (ESV)

And I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass mingled with fireand also those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands.

WHEN WILL THE MARK BE IMPLEMENTED?

The ‘mark’ will be implemented during the great tribulation which will be for a few years. At the end of the great tribulation Jesus will come again in the Rapture. In my previous chapter (The Last Trumpet) I have already established that the Rapture is after the great tribulation. At that time the world as we know it will end and God’s kingdom on earth will begin.

So the implementation of the ‘mark of the beast’ is a part of the great tribulation and the church is called to endure it. Remember the great tribulation is inflicted by the ‘Beast’ who is the Antichrist, the man of sin. It is not the wrath of God.

CALL FOR ENDURANCE

Revelation 14:9-12 (ESV)

And another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, he also will drink the wine of God's wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.”

Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.

TWO CATEGORIES OF PEOPLE

1. ‘Mark’ accepters
2. ‘Mark’ rejecters/evaders

‘MARK’ ACCEPTERS

Receiving the ‘mark’ is a conscious choice, knowing fully that it incorporates the worship of the ‘beast’.

Many will receive it voluntarily as the following verses imply:

Revelation 13:3-4 (ESV)

One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth marvelled as they followed the beast. And they worshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?”

Many will be deceived into receiving the ‘mark’ as the following verses show:

Revelation 13:13-17 (ESV)

It performs great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in front of people, and by the signs that it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast it deceives those who dwell on earth, telling them to make an image for the beast that was wounded by the sword and yet lived. And it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain. Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave,to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name.

Receiving the ‘mark’ will be a popular thing to do. The natural inclination is to "follow the line of least resistance", to avoid trial, trouble, and suffering. Most people will be ‘mark’ accepters.

The call for discipleship is for all time; to live a life of allegiance to the God of creation. Sad to say, many will reject God and pledge allegiance to the beast (indirectly Satan).

Jesus issued this challenge:

Luke 9:23-26 (ESV)

Take Up Your Cross and Follow Jesus

And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself? For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

Apostle John said in 1 John 2:15-17 (ESV):

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of lifeis not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

However, in the last 50 years, the church has been preaching a ‘soft’ Christianity where so-called Christians are not required to deny self and make sacrifices for Christ. Don’t think that now we are not being tested; we do not have to wait until the ‘mark’ to be tested ; right now God knows where your allegiance lie, whether you are serving God or serving Self and Money.

Although the ‘mark’ will be inflicted on us by the ‘beast’ (indirectly Satan), God will allow it to happen to openly test us; whether you would pledge allegiance to the God of creation or to Satan (a created fallen angel). Jesus died for our sins and rose again, defeated Satan on the cross and conquered death in order that man may live forever. The choice is yours; life everlasting or death eternally.

‘MARK’ REJECTORS/EVADERS

‘Mark’ rejecters will be persecuted and many will die of hunger or will be martyred. Some will manage to stay alive for the Rapture at the return of Jesus Christ.

Luke 21:36 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Keep awake then and watch at all times, praying that you may have the full strength and ability and be accounted worthy to escape all these things that will take place, and to stand in the presence of the Son of Man.

Without the mark you are not able to buy anything. It will be very difficult for people to survive if they are not prepared. However, Jesus through the Holy Spirit promised to be with us until the end:

Matthew 28:19-20 (ESV)

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

Hebrews 13:5-6 (ESV)

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say,
“The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”

Quoting from John J Scruby:

The Great Tribulation: The Church's Supreme Test, published in 1933. Scruby also published a magazine called The Standard Bearer.

“If you are a Christian, be prepared to die for your faith. Even your fellow "brothers" will deliver you to the authorities to avoid their own deaths. If you are not willing to die for what you believe, you will deny your faith when threatened with death. Be aware of what Jesus said about those who seek to save their lives:

For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. (Matthew 16:25)

Many Christians are looking forward to the return of Christ, which will, indeed, be a glorious event. However, the time just preceding the end will not be pleasant for Christians. The watchful Christian should be prepared to join his fellow brothers under the altar of souls of those who will die "because of the testimony which they had maintained”.

Through "much tribulation" all must enter into the kingdom of God. John 16:33; Acts 14:22. Everywhere in the New Testament it is taught that to suffer for Christ is one of the highest honours Christians can have bestowed upon them. A desire to shirk suffering for Christ is a sign of degeneracy.

It is sometimes objected that God loves His Church too well to permit it to pass through the Great Tribulation. But is it so? We may judge the future from the past.

Did He interfere when bitter persecution came from the Jews who put our Lord to death and sought to crush His followers at the beginning?

Did His love interfere when untold suffering came from the heathen rulers of Pagan Rome?

Did He interfere during the long years of persecution and torture that were endured at the hands of Papal Rome?

Has He interfered to stay the hands of cruel fiends who have outraged and murdered Armenian saints during the past four or five centuries?

Were not missionaries and their converts dear to the heart of God and did He take them out of the massacres that attended the Boxer outrage in China?

God is love, and He loved the Church of these past days, but in spite of His love, He left the saints to suffer from the awful persecutions of professed Christians, of unbelieving Jews, of brutal pagan rulers, of fiendish barbarians, and of heartless bigots.

Now, what reason have we to expect Him to change His methods in the future?” End of quote.

Many people will try their best to evade the ‘mark’ and quite a number will survive and will have the privilege of being raptured alive. Pray that you will have the wits and strength to evade the ‘mark’. God wants many to be raptured, so there would be many who will be able to evade the ‘mark’.

34-36"But be on your guard. Don't let the sharp edge of your expectation get dulled by parties and drinking and shopping. Otherwise, that Day is going to take you by complete surprise, spring on you suddenly like a trap, for it's going to come on everyone, everywhere, at once. So, whatever you do, don't go to sleep at the switch. Pray constantly that you will have the strength and wits to make it through everything that's coming and end up on your feet before the Son of man.

But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

Conclusion

Watch out for the rise of a world leader who will use the skin code to control all individual financial transactions. Evading the ‘mark’ involves many preparations: spiritual, mental, emotional, physical and material (water, food, medicine).

Ask God for wisdom, wits and strength. Pray that you may be accounted worthy to stay alive for the Rapture.

RFID 'Powder'

The World's Smallest RFID Tag...

The world's smallest and thinnest RFID tags were introduced yesterday by Hitachi. Tiny miracles of miniaturization, these RFID chips (Radio Frequency IDentification chips) measure just 0.05 x 0.05 millimeters.
The previous record-holder, the Hitachi mu-chip, is just 0.4 x 0.4 millimeters. Take a look at the size of the mu-chip RFID tag on a human fingertip. Now, compare that with the new RFID tags. The "powder type" tags are some sixty times smaller.

The new RFID chips have a 128-bit ROM for storing a unique 38 digit number, like their predecessor. Hitachi used semiconductor miniaturization technology and electron beams to write data on the chip substrates to achieve the new, smaller size.

Hitachi's mu-chips are already in production; they were used to prevent ticket forgery at last year's Aichi international technology exposition. RFID 'powder,' on the other hand, is so much smaller that it can easily be incorporated into thin paper, like that used in paper currency and gift certificates. Science fiction fans will have a field day with this new technology. In his 1998 novel Distraction, Bruce Sterling referred to bugged money:

"They always played poker with European cash. There was American cash around, flimsy plastic stuff, but most people wouldn't take American cash anymore. It was hard to take American cash seriously when it was no longer convertible outside U.S. borders. Besides, all the bigger bills were bugged. (Read more about bugged money)"

These tiny RFID tags could be worked into any product; combined with RFID readers built into doorways, theft of consumer goods would be practically impossible. These devices could also be used to identify and track people. For example, suppose you participated in some sort of protest or other organized activity. If police agencies sprinkled these tags around, every individual could be tracked and later identified at leisure, with powerful enough tag scanners.

Engineers have developed a device platform that combines electronic components for sensing, medical diagnostics, communications and human-machine interfaces, all on an ultrathin skin-like patch that mounts directly onto the skin with the ease, flexibility and comfort of a temporary tattoo.

Led by John A. Rogers, the Lee J. Flory-Founder professor of engineering at the University of Illinois, the researchers described their novel skin-mounted electronics in the Aug. 12 issue of the journal Science.

The circuit bends, wrinkles and stretches with the mechanical properties of skin. The researchers demonstrated their concept through a diverse array of electronic components mounted on a thin, rubbery substrate, including sensors, LEDs, transistors, radio frequency capacitors, wireless antennas, and conductive coils and solar cells for power.

“We threw everything in our bag of tricks onto that platform, and then added a few other new ideas on top of those, to show that we could make it work,” said Rogers, a professor of materials science and engineering, of chemistry, of mechanical science and engineering, of bioengineering and of electrical and computer engineering. He also is affiliated with the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, and with the Frederick Seitz Materials Research Laboratory at U. of I.

The patches are initially mounted on a thin sheet of water-soluble plastic, then laminated to the skin with water – just like applying a temporary tattoo. Alternately, the electronic components can be applied directly to a temporary tattoo itself, providing concealment for the electronics.

“We think this could be an important conceptual advance in wearable electronics, to achieve something that is almost unnoticeable to the wearer,” said U. of I. electrical and computer engineering professor Todd Coleman, who co-led the multi-disciplinary team. “The technology can connect you to the physical world and the cyberworld in a very natural way that feels very comfortable.”

Skin-mounted electronics have many biomedical applications, including EEG and EMG sensors to monitor nerve and muscle activity. One major advantage of skin-like circuits is that they don’t require conductive gel, tape, skin-penetrating pins or bulky wires, which can be uncomfortable for the user and limit coupling efficiency. They are much more comfortable and less cumbersome than traditional electrodes and give the wearers complete freedom of movement.

“If we want to understand brain function in a natural environment, that’s completely incompatible with EEG studies in a laboratory,” said Coleman, now a professor at the University of California at San Diego. “The best way to do this is to record neural signals in natural settings, with devices that are invisible to the user.”

Monitoring in a natural environment during normal activity is especially beneficial for continuous monitoring of health and wellness, cognitive state or behavioral patterns during sleep.

In addition to gathering data, skin-mounted electronics could provide the wearers with added capabilities. For example, patients with muscular or neurological disorders, such as ALS, could use them to communicate or to interface with computers. The researchers found that, when applied to the skin of the throat, the sensors could distinguish muscle movement for simple speech. The researchers have even used the electronic patches to control a video game, demonstrating the potential for human-computer interfacing.

Rogers’ group is well known for its innovative stretchable, flexible devices, but creating devices that could comfortably contort with the skin required a new fabrication paradigm.

“Our previous stretchable electronic devices are not well-matched to the mechanophysiology of the skin,” Rogers said. “In particular, the skin is extremely soft, by comparison, and its surface can be rough, with significant microscopic texture. These features demanded different kinds of approaches and design principles.”

Rogers collaborated with Northwestern University engineering professor Yonggang Huang and his group to tackle the difficult mechanics and materials questions. The team developed a device geometry they call filamentary serpentine, in which the circuits for the various devices are fabricated as tiny, squiggled wires. When mounted on thin, soft rubber sheets, the wavy, snakelike shape allows them to bend, twist, scrunch and stretch while maintaining functionality.

“The blurring of electronics and biology is really the key point here,” Huang said. “All established forms of electronics are hard, rigid. Biology is soft, elastic. It’s two different worlds. This is a way to truly integrate them.”

The researchers used simple adaptations of techniques used in the semiconductor industry, so the patches are easily scalable and manufacturable. The device company mc10, which Rogers co-founded, already is working to commercialize certain versions of the technology.

Next, the researchers are working to integrate the various devices mounted on the platform so that they work together as a system, rather than individually functioning devices, and to add Wi-Fi capability.

“The vision is to exploit these concepts in systems that have self-contained, integrated functionality, perhaps ultimately working in a therapeutic fashion with closed feedback control based on integrated sensors, in a coordinated manner with the body itself,” Rogers said.

All Australians could be implanted with microchips for tracking and identification within the next two or three generations, a prominent academic says.

Michael G Michael from the University of Wollongong's School of Information Systems and Technology, has coined the term "uberveillance" to describe the emerging trend of all-encompassing surveillance.

"Uberveillance is not on the outside looking down, but on the inside looking out through a microchip that is embedded in our bodies," Dr Michael told ninemsn.

Microchips are commonly implanted into animals to reveal identification details when scanned and similar devices have been used with Alzheimers patients.

US company VeriChip is already using implantable microchips, which store a 16-digit unique identification number, on humans for medical purposes.

"Our focus is on high-risk patients, and our product's ability to identify them and their medical records in an emergency," spokesperson Allison Tomek said.

"We do not know when or if someone will develop an implantable microchip with GPS technology, but it is not an application we are pursuing."

Another form of uberveillance is the use of bracelets worn by dangerous prisoners which use global positioning systems to pinpoint their movements.

But Dr Michael said the technology behind uberveillance would eventually lead to a black box small enough to fit on a tiny microchip and implanted in our bodies.

This could also allow someone to be located in an emergency or for the identification of corpses after a large scale disaster or terrorist attack.

"This black box will then be a witness to our actual movements, words perhaps even our thoughts -and play a similar role to the black box placed in an aircraft," he said.

He also predicted that microchip implants and their infrastructure could eliminate the need for e-passports, e-tags, and secure ID cards.

"Microchipping I think will eventually become compulsory in the context of identification within the frame of national security," he said.

Although uberveillance was only in its early phases, Dr Michael's wife, Katina Michael a senior lecturer from UOW's School of Information Systems and Technology said the ability to track and identify any individual was already possible.

"Anyone with a mobile phone can be tracked to 15m now," she said, pointing out that most mobile phone handsets now contained GPS receivers and radio frequency identification (RFID) readers.

"The worst scenario is the absolute loss of human rights," she said.

Wisconsin, North Dakota and four other states in the US have already outlawed the use of enforced microchipping.

"Australia hasn't got specific regulations addressing these applications," she said.

"We need to address the potential for misuse by amending privacy laws to ensure personal data protection."
